UA Students Take Honors at Journalism Conference — Communication students were honored with 36 awards at the 16th annual Southeast Journalism Conference in Clarksville, Tenn.

UA Broadcast News Competition Team Places in Top 10 at National Level — The broadcast news competition team has added to their string of top-10 national finishes in the annual Hearst Intercollegiate Broadcast News Competition, finishing eighth overall this year. Dr. Pamela Doyle's teams have finished in the top 10 during seven of the last eight years.

UA Restaurant and Hospitality Management Program Hosts Leadership Series — The College of Human Environmental Sciences restaurant and hospitality management program invited leaders from the restaurant, hotel, country club, and meeting industry to UA to meet students majoring in restaurant and hotel management as part of the Spring Hospitality Leadership Series.

ASMS Students Participate in Research Program at UA — High-school juniors and seniors from Mobile spend two weeks developing solutions to electro-mechanical engineering problems that will be applied to improving modern precision manufacturing technologies. The program was one of four sponsored by Alabama's Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) through its Large Scale Electromechanical Systems Center of Excellence (LEMS).

Psychology Student Research Conference Held at UA — Dr. Jennings Bryant, professor and Reagan Chair of Broadcasting in the College of Communication and Information Sciences, is the keynote speaker at the 17th annual Southeastern Undergraduate Psychology Research Conference.

UA Students Participate in "Alternative Spring Break" — Three groups of UA students spend their spring break participating in community service projects in New York, Jamaica, and California. UA's Office of Community Service and Volunteerism coordinates "Alternative Spring Break" each year to give students an interesting alternative to regular spring break activities.

UA's Project R.O.S.E. Celebrates 25 Years of Success — UA-sponsored Project R.O.S.E. (Recycled Oil Saves Energy), one of the oldest volunteer used motor oil outreach and education programs in the United States, is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. The program was founded in 1977 by Dr. Gary C. April, professor and head of UA's chemical engineering department.

UA Hosts Rural Health Conference — Titled "The Time for Action: Building Connections to Improve Rural Economies and Health," the Rural Health Conference addresses rural health care issues and their impact on the state of Alabama.

UA Junior Panhellenic Association Sponsors Easter Egg Hunt — The UA Junior Panhellenic Association sponsors an Easter Egg Hunt on the lawn of the President's Mansion on the UA campus. Children from the University community and the Tuscaloosa area are invited to participate in the event.

UA Greek Students' Fund-Raiser for Children's Hospital Ends with Golf Tournament — Greek Links, a yearlong fund-raiser by the UA greek system, ends with a golf tournament at Ol' Colony golf course in Tuscaloosa. Money raised by Greek Links goes to Children's Hospital and Habitat for Humanity.

UA History Department Hosts Conference on Race and Place — Fifteen presenters from around the nation discuss issues concerning race and race relations at the "Conference on Race and Place in Global Perspective."

UA NSCS Chapter Sends Greeting Cards to Soldiers — The UA student chapter of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars sponsors a program for students, faculty, and staff to send greeting cards to soldiers stationed overseas.
