UA Doctoral Student Receives National Fellowship — UA graduate student Bebe Barefoot is the recipient of a $20,000 American Dissertation Fellowship for the 2002-03 year by the American Association of University Women Educational Foundation. Barefoot is a candidate for a doctoral degree in English with a concentration in post-World War II American experimental fiction.
UA, DCH Collaborate to Launch Cooperative Education Program for Student Nurses — UA and DCH Regional Medical Center launch the state's only Cooperative Education Program for student nurses and one of the few such programs nationwide.
"Making it in the Media" Job Fair Gives Students an Edge in Tight Job Market — More than 200 students from several colleges and universities in the Southeast updated their resumés and organized their portfolios for the seventh annual "Making it in the Media" job fair on the UA campus. Most of Alabama's large newspapers, television stations, and public relations firms attended the fair.
UA College of Engineering Receives $17,000 Grant from ExxonMobil — The College of Engineering will use the grant for scholarships, field trips, visiting speakers, equipment purchases, student and faculty travel to professional meetings, and other academic projects.

Habitat Founders Help Dedicate UA House — Millard and Linda Fuller, husband and wife co-founders of Habitat for Humanity International, attend the dedication of the UA Habitat House, which was constructed by UA greek letter organization students and members of the Tuscaloosa community. Each home football game contributes about $10 million to the Tuscaloosa economy.
